Set in the authentic speakeasy atmosphere of StillWater Spirits & Sounds, the Electro Swing Lab is a rip-roaring good time that transports you back to the glory days of the Jazz Age.
This one of a kind event began with an era appropriate dance lesson from swing dance extraordinaire and Electro Swing Lab host, Marshall Watson and his spunky partner Brittany Leavitt. After Marshall and Brittany got everyone warmed up, and their toes-a-tappin’, the stage show started with a performance by the magnifique Les Petits BonBons. This trio of talented ladies performed a unique dance routine consisting of glittering costumes, fancy flapper moves, and belly dancing set to jumpin’ and jivin’ tunes.
Once the ladies exited the stage, the night seamlessly slid into a set by the Fox Hills Five. This 7 piece band were spot-on with their renditions of popular Jazz standards. Complete with a blaring horn section, stand-up bass, and a sassy lady singer, the Fox Hills Five have a retro sound that keeps the dance floor packed!
After a 2nd, and final, jaw dropping performance by the BonBons, DJ Skyler Gilmore took to the turntables to finish off the night with a high energy mix of the newest dance music craze; Electro Swing. Electro swing is a musical genre fusing traditional swing sounds with house music and EDM to create club friendly, jazzy tunes.
Folks in attendance were dressed to the nines in their best retro duds, the dance floor was on fire, and the hooch was flowing freely! The hoots and hollers from this hootenanny could be heard all through the quiet corners of Dana Point.
Whether you’re a Jazz enthusiast, swing dancer, vintage lover, or just looking for something different to do, the Electro Swing Lab is an event that you do not want to miss. If you do, you’re just not hep to the jive, baby!
